The European Commission has introduced registration measures for certain steel products imported into the EU from China and Turkey.
The measures concern welded steel mesh from China and Turkey and bolted and boltless steel shelving from China. The registrations are part of ongoing anti-dumping investigations.
Welded steel mesh
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2022 concerns certain welded steel mesh originating in China and Turkey.
The products include mesh and latticework welded at the intersection, made from plain wire. The products may be presented in rolls and may or may not be galvanised.
The relevant CN codes are 7314 20 90, 7314 31 00 and 7314 39 00.
Steel shelving
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2023 concerns bolted and boltless steel shelving and parts thereof originating in China.
The relevant products include steel uprights and beams, with or without decks. They are currently classified under ex 9403 20 80 and ex 9403 99 10, with TARIC codes 9403 20 80 20 and 9403 99 10 20.
What does this mean for importers?
The registration does not mean that definitive anti-dumping duties have been imposed. However, it allows potential duties to be collected retroactively on registered imports if the applicable conditions are met.
Importers should therefore review whether their products fall within the scope of the measures and monitor the ongoing investigations.
