TransitNet is connected to the UKās Goods Vehicle Movements System, meaning that once a transit has been submitted and processed by the local NCTS system, the customs declarations will automatically be registered on GVMS and a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) will be provided via TransitNet.

Movements of certain goods (fish, meat, live animals, etc.,) either into Ireland from Great Britain or into France after crossing the UK land bridge under a transit document require a pre-notification in Traces NT. This pre-notification is know as a CHED declaration (Common Health Entry Declaration). SGS e-Customs can provide CHED declarations.

For any trucks that will enter the EU via France and Ireland, a separate ICS/ENS declaration is required to be submitted to the French and Irish ICS systems. TransitNet has developed a connection to both ICS systems, allowing you to submit your transits to the NCTS system and your ICS/ENS declarations to the French and Irish ICS systems at the click of a button.

SGS e-Customs also offers a complete UK brokerage service including UK export and import declarations giving Irish companies to possibility to complete all their customs formalities with one trusted and experienced operator.

Brexit is a fact. As of January 1, 2021, customs declarations have had to be filled for all shipments between the UK and the EU. This new obligation can create additional risks, costs and delays for your company. We are the only customs partner you need to transform Brexit from a burden into a competitive advantage.

From the 1st October 2021 trucks travelling the UK landbridge under a transit declaration to and from Ireland, will require an EXS (Exit Summary Declaration) declaration submitted to the UK customs system. SGS e-customs can provide EXS declarations to meet these new requirements. EXS is also needed for empty pallets, containers and vehicles being moved under a transport contract to the EU.

We are using TransitNet for our UK Landbridge movements from and to Ireland. We have had a seamless experience from the start with minimal delays if any. It took a few days to adjust to the new customs procedures but this is part of the norm now.

Post Brexit, transiting the UK landbridge is still the quickest and most efficient way for us to travel to and from mainland Europe. The new customs procedures were simplified with the help of SGS.

We have been working with SGS since the start of the year and they have helped us greatly in the Brexit transition. More recently we have tried their Landbridge package which they operate in cooperation with Eurotunnel. The service was first class and it made the whole process much smoother than it had been before. The package really has every angle covered. We will definitely be using the Landbridge package with SGS and Eurotunnel going forward to ensure our trucks make it to their destination without delay.
