TransitNet provides full GVMS service in the UK
Since the UK left the European Union in 2021, SGS TransitNet has been connected to the Goods Vehicle Movement Service, also known as GVMS.
Registration in GVMS is mandatory for all goods entering and leaving the UK at ports using the GVMS system.
TransitNet provides a full GVMS service. Clients of TransitNet can either request SGS directly to create the GMR on their behalf or clients with access to TransitNet have the possibility to;
1. To create and submit a GMR as part of a transit – the additional service is available at header level of the transit declaration when the route of the transit meets GVMS requirements
2. To create and submit a standalone GMR via our GMR service – the GMR service is available as one of the options to choose after login to TransitNet
Creating a GMR in TransitNet is simpler and quicker than creating a GMR in HMRC’s online GMR service where there are several screens to navigate. In TransitNet, a GMR can be created as below;
1) When created as part a transit – simply tick the checkbox and choose the route of your goods.
a. For GB exit, TransitNet uses the DUCR number of the export declaration for GMR creation
b. For GB entry, TransitNet uses the MRN of the transit declaration
2) When created as a standalone – TransitNet’s one screen GMR solution, allows users to create a GMR by;
a. Selecting the direction (UK_INBOUND, UK_OUTBOUND, etc.,)
b. Selecting the route from a drop down menu – the options are a combination of departure port, arrival port and carrier
c. Adding the vehicle details (Vehicle for accompanied, trailer for unaccompanied)
d. Adding the declaration numbers
