Specific requirements for DFDS

From the 1st January 2026, ICS 2 will be required for all goods entering the North of France from Great Britain.
The lodging of the ICS 2 declaration on this short straits route is generally the responsibility of the transporter company.

For companies travelling with DFDS, there are specific requirements depending on the whether the units are accompanied or unaccompanied.

For accompanied units, the ICS 2 should be lodged by the transport company.

For unaccompanied units, DFDS will operate multiple filing. This means that DFDS submit the master data (general description, total gross mass etc.,) to ICS 2 but the transporter is responsible for submitting the house data (consignor/consignee, item information, etc.,).

For clients of SGS, the master data should be provided directly to DFDS (via their booking system) and for clients who avail of SGS TransitNet’s ICS 2 service, TransitNet will submit the house data to ICS 2 to complete the requirements.

SGS TransitNet provides a full ICS 2 service as well as the new ELO service which will be a mandatory requirement from the start of 2026.
