SGS and Camar Collaborate to Provide a Solution for Physical Customs Inspections
In 2016, Ancona Customs started requiring physical inspections of all trucks leaving with a TIR Carnet, T2 or similar declarations. Today Ancona Customs still requires the inspection of the goods and sealing of the customs for all partial trucks with more than one EX. Therefore release of the trucks takes more time. Also, with the current COVID-19 pandemic, many customs employees work in smart shifts and therefore not enough staff are present to perform physical controls on time.
At the end of 2019, Camar was authorized to proceed with simplified procedure in their warehouse in Ancona using their own customs seals for transit operations.
To avoid time-consuming processing, Camar and SGS TransitNet have agreed that for SGS TransitNet’s declarations with departure Ancona Customs to be proceeded with Camar’s simplified procedure authorization. So the trucks will be controlled and sealed by Camar in their warehouse, without Customs’ intervention. For this purpose, all the necessary legal authorizations were given to Camar in Ancona. Camar has already submitted many such declarations for SGS’ clients.
Thanks to this collaboration between Camar and SGS TransitNet, the trucks in Ancona will be released much faster and will be able to be boarded onto ferries much earlier.
