New requirements concerning EORI numbers from 1st September 2024
As Turkey prepare to transition to NCTS 5, the Turkish customs authorities will introduce some important changes in the current NCTS 4 system.
The changes concern the mandatory inclusion of a carriers EORI in all transit declarations – it will be mandatory to include the carriers EORI number in all transit declarations from 1st September 2024.
For foreign carriers, it is important that they have a valid EORI number which can be included in the transit declarations.
It is crucial for foreign carriers to have a valid EORI number otherwise it will not be possible to process transit declarations correctly.
For Turkish carriers, it is also important that they have a valid EORI number but they will also need to perform an additional step to match their tax number with the EORI number in the Turkish NCTS system.
