Euro to be introduced from January 1^st 2026

Bulgaria will replace their local currency (Bulgarian lev – BGN) with the euro from January 1^st 2026.

This change will also impact NCTS declarations which will be required to contain the value in euro as opposed to BGN – these changes will be managed in TransitNet.

Please note that declarations submitted with BGN currency and not accepted by customs before January 1 will be automatically rejected by Bulgarian customs and a new declaration with the correct currency EUR will have to be submitted.
