Session 2: Trade Perspective

The objective of this session is to provide an insight into the work of a Customs Manager of a leading UK company looking to prepare for the changes that will occur as a result of Brexit. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the steps required to increase resilience, with the added benefit of standardizing operations and improving confidence across the business.

Session 3: Origin

The objective of this session is to provide expert guidance on the subject of origin, both preferential in regard to trade agreements, but also touching on non-preferential, and the implications of UK companies of the introduction of the UK Certificate of Origin. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the steps required to ensure their goods are sent and received with the relevant origin status, minimizing duties and transactional friction.

Session 4: Classification and Valuation

The objective of this session is to provide expert-led content on two key aspects of the trade of goods. Classification is used to identify physical materials by customs authorities worldwide. Accurate classification can be time-consuming, but inaccurate classification can be far worse. This session allows attendees to look at the essential art and proceed with confidence into the post-Brexit world. The session will also cover valuation methods, and provide guidance to ensure companies don’t fall foul during post clearance audits.

Session 5: Customs Special Procedures

The objective of this session is to introduce customs special procedures, allowing attendees to determine the merits of each, and ultimately inform a cost benefit analysis of whether a measure is viable for their trading behavior. While some measures may rise or diminish in value depending on the terms of the UK’s departure from the EU, delegates will gain a working understanding of tools of increasing value, including inward processing, customs warehousing and more.
